I was helping someone dispose of an old wooden dresser when I decided to remove the top and start to make marks in the wood. With a hammer and an array of small screwdrivers (the kind used for eyeglass repair) I started chiseling. My "first carving" was a random doodling that, much to my surprise, looked fairly decent. I felt inspired and got a bigger piece of wood for my second try. It was then that I began my wood reliefs. I was thirteen years old at the time.
